Tom Kontos is Chief Economist for KAR Global. He makes frequent presentations to clients and at automotive industry conferences, and is often quoted in the trade and national press.  Tom is author of the Kontos Kommentary, a monthly e-mail report and video on wholesale used vehicle price trends, and Pulse, a report on economic conditions and the new and used vehicle markets in the US and Canada.  He oversees an analytical services team in the US and Canada, which produces numerous value-added studies for clients and dealers of the KAR family of companies. 

In 2016, Tom was awarded the Ed Bobit Icon of the Automotive Industry Award by the International Automotive Remarketers Alliance and the National Auto Auction Association. 

Tom has more than 25 years of experience in market research, financial analysis and strategic planning; and holds bachelors and masters degrees in mineral resource economics from Pennsylvania State University.
